James E Pepper – Rye – Whiskey
James E Pepper whiskey was produced in Kentucky from the American Revolution until 1967. When the bourbon industry fell on hard times no whiskey was produced at the Lexington distillery site for nearly half a century. With the support of whiskey entrepreneur Amir Peay the brand was re-launched in 2008 and the Lexington was restored and finally began producing whiskey in 2017.
This rye whiskey from James E. Pepper’s range, is bottled at 92 degrees proof, or 46% ABV, and can be drunk neat or is perfect in an Old Fashioned cocktail.
This is a fruity, almost bourbon like, rye whisky, with cedar notes, dark cerries, menthol, and subtle earthy spice.
