Glen Scotia Double Cask
Glen Scotia Distillery is located in Campbeltown on the west coast of Scotland. Situated near to the Crosshill Loch, they draw the water for the whisky production from there via two bore holes drilled twenty metres below the distillery. The Glen Scotia Distillery have been operating from this location for over 180 years.
Following a buyout by the Loch Lomond Group and much investment – a few very special releases and independent bottlings have been produced. Producing just 100,000 litres per year and with a staff of just two – the distillery has a long way to go before it reaches capacity and gets close to its hayday. Now Hector Gatt (of Springbank Fame) and James Grogan, the stillman are focussed on producing exceptional quality and perfecting the Campbeltown whisky profile.
This Campbeltown single malt whisky has been finished in first fill bourbon casks and then Pedro Ximinez sherry casks, a lovely combination creating soft ripe peach aromas, caramel, fudge and vanilla, a hint of that west coast salt and some oak spice. Tasty stuff.
