Limoncello di Amalfi Terra di Limoni
Limoncello is an Italian lemon liqueur mainly produced in Southern Italy and particularly in the region around the Gulf of Naples, the Sorrentine Peninsula and the coast of Amalfi. Limoncello is made from the zest of ‘Ovale di Sorrento’ lemons. Lemon peel is steeped in grain alcohol until the oil is released. The resulting yellow liquid is then mixed with pure neutral alcohol. These lemons typify the delicate flavours and sunshine of the Amalfi Coast and are IGP (protected geographical indication) certified.
This is an excellent digestif served cold, at the end of lunch or dinner. Limoncello is also lovely at room temperature, perhaps mixed with tonic water or champagne. It can also used on ice cream and fruit salads.
